Plywood Details
Plywood sheets offer professional and consistent results. As standard we offer a range of plywood sheet types at a BB/BB grade, this is a good quality Utility Plywood as it has a solid face but may include patches and other knots/ imperfections, and is described as the all-round workhorse for the trade; good for general use, furniture, painting, laminating, and veneering. Plywood is a commonly used material that is popular within construction industries, both for visible applications and as the foundation for projects where it serves as a stable framework.
Plywood is not only cost-effective but is also a versatile wood sheet material that is reliable and delivers excellent levels of strength. From floors to walls, roofing to partitions, structural plywood sheets have many uses.
Our plywood is made from thin layers of wood veneer that are glued in layers to create a consistent and incredibly tough material that is also light and easy to machine. This creates a bonded sheet with stronger properties and all the benefits of using pure wood.
Traditionally plywood sheets lend themselves for use in decorative projects, and furniture such as tables, chairs, or finished cabinets. There are several different varieties of plywood, depending on the application you’re using it for, but the four most common types of plywood are birch, softwood ply, hardwood ply and moisture-resistant marine ply. Plywood comes in a variety of grades, our grades are listed below. You can see our wood grading guide for more information on the types available.
Our birch plywood for instance is an aesthetically pleasing material, making it well-suited to applications such as tables, shelving, kitchen doors or signs.
Plywood sheets have a smooth surface that’s ideal for staining and lacquering but can be equally as beautiful without any finishing applications to highlight the clean, blemish-free wood grain.
All of our plywood can be cut, allowing for various designs and finishes. The thinner sheets are easy to work with and can be cut, routed and assembled easily as they’re light and easy to manoeuvre.
Alternatively, our thicker plywood sheets have fantastic load-bearing properties, giving stability and strength to every project. We provide plywood in a wide variety of thicknesses that can be cut to any shape or size to suit your needs.
If you are unsure about what specific thickness you will need, get in contact and we can be sure to assist you.
Key Features of Ply Board
Versatile
Plywood sheets are a popular and adaptable material that is made up of wood veneers which are glued in layers to create a consistent and incredibly tough material that produces a hard-wearing and durable panel.
Malleable
As our plywood sheets are made up of real veneer, it takes well to most adhesives and paints. This makes it an ideal solution for those looking to utilise the strong, natural properties of real whilst being a cheaper inexpensive alternative.
Water-Resistant
Built with a negligible core gap, our moisture-resistant marine plywood sheets reduce the likelihood of water getting trapped between the layers. This provides a strong and stable glue board for extra strength as it prevents warping or rotting that could otherwise lower the integrity of the sheet, making it suitable for outdoor use. We also offer phenolic plywood and melamine-faced ply where water resistance is a key component.
Inexpensive
Compared to a solid sheet of the same size, our plywood sheets provide an inexpensive solution for those looking to achieve the same desired aesthetic and natural applications.
Customisable
Our plywood sheets take well to being machined and cut, meaning that we can customise your sheet to fit any spaces that you require, perfect for any structural application.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can you paint plywood?
You can paint plywood, but be sure to use primer, as plywood will absorb more paint than you would expect so the primer seals the plywood, and allows it to take to the paint more easily keeping your surface smooth and sealed.
Can you bend plywood?
It is possible to bend plywood. There are numerous ways of bending plywood, but if you are after a sheet that cannot be bent, look at our MDF sheeting.
What is plywood used for?
Plywood can be used for a wide range of versatile structural applications whether interior or exterior, from furniture to internal panelling.
How strong is plywood?
Plywood is relatively strong as it is numerous layers of wood pressed together. For a stronger sheet material, look for hardwood plywood, 5-ply or multi-ply sheets as these will have more layers, and thus more strength.
What are the types of plywood?
We sell a variety of types of plywood, including softwood, hardwood, marine, and birch, all of which have specific characteristics and will aid specific projects. For more information on the respected types, read their descriptions at the bottom of their product pages.
Can I cut plywood?
It is possible to cut plywood yourself, but we are able to do it for you if you request at the point of ordering. To do so yourself please follow safety procedures, and use a sharp saw else you risk the sheet breaking.
How is plywood made?
Plywood is made by glueing a series of thin veneered sheets of wood together. Each adjacent layer is rotated by up to 90 degrees to reduce the risk of splitting when nailed in at the edges. This technique, called 'cross-graining', improves strength, stability and prevents warping, making it an excellent general-purpose construction panel.
How do you seal plywood edges?
Plywood should be sealed to prevent moisture from affecting the sheets and causing warping. The sealant you use will depend based on how you intend to use the plywood, but you should use something quick-drying and can withstand all temperatures, and be compatible with paint if you intend to paint your plywood.
Delivery depends on the size of your order
