Stair Wall Panels

If you are thinking about panelling your staircase walls, we can provide you with packs of MDF strips in a variety of lengths, thicknesses and widths which are designed to be easily customisable to fit your unique staircase dimensions. For a more traditional look, you could also choose from our decorative beading and dado rails which we can supply cut to length for you. Our wood panelling products are designed for straightforward installation, allowing you to tackle the project yourself or enlist the help of a professional. With high-quality materials, you can be confident in achieving a flawless, polished look that will impress your guests and elevate the overall aesthetic of your home. Don't settle for a plain and uninspiring staircase. Embrace the opportunity to create a stunning focal point that adds depth, character, and value to your living space.

While our stair panelling provides the most essential components needed to elevate your stairway, proper installation is key to achieving a seamless, professional-looking finish. Follow these step-by-step guidelines to ensure a successful shaker panel installation on your stairway walls. Remember to take your time, measure accurately, and enjoy the process of creating a beautiful, personalised space in your home.

  1. Accurate measurements are crucial for a perfect fit. Before ordering your panelling pack, carefully measure the dimensions of your stairway walls, taking note of any obstacles, corners, or irregularities that may require custom cutting and make sure to order enough MDF strips and or beading and dado railing to cover the whole staircase.
  2. Visualise the desired layout of your panels, considering the placement of each strip. You can draw on your walls with a pencil if this helps.
  3. Ensure that your stairway walls are clean, dry, and free from any debris or irregularities that may interfere with the panel installation. Apply a suitable primer or sealer if necessary.
  4. Once you have worked out the measurements of each panel, you will need to trim the MDF strips or beading to the required lengths. We recommend using a mitre block and saw for this to get the right angles and lengths. Take your time and double-check your measurements for a precise fit.
  5. Apply adhesive to one side of the MDF strips or to the back of the moulding. Carefully position the panels onto the stairway walls, ensuring a level and secure fit. Use a rubber mallet to gently tap the panels into place if needed.
  6. After allowing the adhesive to cure fully, use a high-quality wood filler to address any gaps or imperfections between the panels, beading, and dado rails. Smooth the filler with a putty knife, and caulk any remaining seams for a seamless finish.
  7. If you need to, lightly sand the entire surface to prepare for the final finish. Choose a paint, stain, or varnish that complements the existing decor of your home.
