On a whim whilst decorating a small dining room, I decided to put shaker panelling beneath an existing dado rail. I was slightly anxious however I’d used CutMy for similar panelling for the ends of our kitchen island and it had worked out wonderfully.
I measured the three walls, the fourth wall was glass doors leading into the conservatory, and chose the primed MDF, 80mm wide. They arrived in one complete package, with the MDF for the three different sized walls all mixed together. I do think that a copy of the measured view, with the chosen dimensions included in the delivery would have helped considerably.
However I did manage to sort the boards out, and they fit amazingly well. Getting the boards to meet seamlessly wasn’t as easy as I thought, but some judicious sanding after fitting made the joins almost invisible. I thought I would have needed panel pins or a nail gun to secure them in addition to the glue however a proprietary glue that did away with any more nails worked brilliantly. I did use a lot more glue than I’d imagined so factor that into your budget.
The boards were delivered punctually, they were of great quality, the primer assisted greatly, and it saved hours of measuring and cutting, with no need for the injurious MDF dust inside the house. I am delighted with the service and I’m looking where I can use CutMy products elsewhere.

I ordered a self-measured kit of mdf wall panel parts, which had to fit exactly in a bedroom alcove of 2.585 metres. The measurements were made to half a millimeter to ensure the project fitted. The parts arrived quickly, and very well packed and protected against transit damage. Measurement of the individual parts showed them all to be exact! The quality of the mdf material is first class. The project is now fitted in place and primed, waiting for the choice of top coat. We are very happy with the service 😀

Great service when our strips arrived slightly damaged (not their fault, probably the courier), but they offered a more than reasonable offer of a compensation discount, with no hassle at all. Very pleased with the service, and the panelling in our bedroom now.
The maximum weight capacity depends on the size of your shelf, wall material, brackets, and fixings used. We recommend fixing larger shelves to masonry with our heavy duty adjustable brackets, using at least 50mm screws and anchors. This provides the strongest mounting. Smaller shelves or mounting to softer wall materials will reduce the weight capacity considerably.
What are the alcove shelves made of?
Our shelves start with a durable MDF core which we expertly machine and hand finish to your custom dimensions. The surfaces are covered in a scratch-resistant melamine laminate finish available in oak, white, black, and a paintable raw MDF version.
Are mounting brackets included?
Yes, standard screw brackets are available for all board thicknesses, while our heavy-duty adjustable brackets are available for 38mm and 50mm boards. Screws and wall anchors are not included - make sure to use appropriate fixings for your wall type.
Should I mount to the wall studs if installing on plasterboard?
Yes, try to align at least one bracket per shelf to a wall stud. This greatly improves stability. If stud alignment isn't possible, use specialised plasterboard fixings.
How are the alcove shelves installed?
First attach the adjustable brackets securely onto the wall, properly spaced to match the shelf width. Make sure the brackets are level, then set the shelf onto the bracket pegs.

These shelves are the best on the market!! Expensive, but for bespoke sizing and quality finish well worth it.

I ordered 3 floating shelves. Despite there being an adjustment mechanism in the bracket to alter the angle of the shelf, there were no fitting instructions were sent with the shelves. One of the shelves had 3 cut marks on the top surface, which was disappointing since they cost £130.00 each. Apart from that they were great.

Had an initial issue with the order as the wrong product was delivered but this was dealt with quickly. Sadly for the cost I am disappointed with the quality of the product, horrible stickers left on the shelves that are difficult to remove and have left a mark. Installation is also tricky. You need to have the rods lining up pretty well to get them all in at the same time
